Devotion for the Day: Psalm 139: 13-14

The NLT version of these verses says, “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous — how I know it.”

The NIV translation is, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

The NIV translation is the one that’s probably most familiar to us. But I like exploring different Bible translations, and I like the NLT translation when it says, “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!”

Humans are complex. We need to be thankful for how God made us, for the gifts he gives us, and for making us individually complex and complete in Him. He knows the number of hairs on our heads and has plans for us.

Let us take comfort in knowing that we’re each special and gifted, and we’re enough in our own way.
